To DMV or not to DMV...

The question in the head of every rapper, singer, model, promoter or
regular nigga witta dream from the DC,Maryland, and VA region.Do I
sacrifice my own personal progression for the better good of my
backyard? There ARE strength in numbers, true! But I wonder about the
olympic weight lifters when I think about the DMV.We have a lot in
common.Like them, our strength is only for show, only for ego.I'd
rather be Floyd Mayweather myself. The little nigga who don't mind
going in the ring.Alone if I have too, determined to win...I sat down
with a few noted personalities from the cities underground scene. On
the Go-Go side me and my big homie Coop manager of the Backyard Band
and the OG Darren X Co-Manager for the TCB band chopped it up.Though
we spoke at seperate times the statement from them was clear. The only
way to expand our city is to expand our music. No what matter where you
go,if you are who you say you are then that's who you'll be.If you DC
then you'll always be.We stand in place wishing..praying..hoping..like
fools for somebody, anybody we THINK means something to come and rescue
us.#Fact this aint egypt nigga and Moses been gone.Won't be no "Let my
people go" this is the time where the people gotta get up and do it
themselves...From the Hip Hop scene I spoke to a few of the good folks
over @ OY BoY(shout out suni) and several times with the big homie
Wali of the Circle Boyz(not to be confused w/wale').Both teams have
over a decade in the DC underbelly and BOTH teams agree that this game
requires a global grind, a global mindstate even.Do you stay in your
comfort zone because you believe you have a better chance at success
there? Depending on your idea of success by all means I agree.Do
you.But if the world is what you want, you have to step from behind
that computer and go get it...Handouts hardly happen...I'm more
confused than anything. This city doesn't come from this weak place
that we in.We need to reteach these niggas. We not the get in where you
fit ins.The same city who had its own music and culture before Hip
Hop(research ur GOGO history) the same city who had more independant
black owned clothing companies than any other area long b4 Sean John
or Rocawear or anything we wearing now. When did wanting somebody to
like us or wanting to be like somebody else become the move. The city
gone soft.Everybody a saint now but we need more killas. The war is
real and we need soldiers. If we ever goin have a chance we gotta take
some.DMV to ATL as I'm on this plane.Let me take a lil nap.Studio
tonight Zone 6 waddup.48th I aint forget u.
