@EzkoBarz - $truggle Rap$
Ezko has just released his newest single, "$truggle Rap$", as a prerequisite to his upcoming project, Coming of Age.
Born in Cameroon, Ezko is a Washington DC-area (DMV) hip-hop artist
with strong artistic values and a passion for creative evolution.
Ezko's previous 2014 releases, "What You Make It" and "Temple of Mind",
have already received exceptional acclaim and recognition throughout
the blog-o-sphere. Ezko delivers powerful anthems reminiscent of 90's
hardcore, with philosophic elements that have become so common in the
lyrical content of today's "Beast Coast" hip-hop. He owns his style to
the fullest, with little need to cite artistic influences.
@kageeheh - Slow it Down (Official Music Video) with Lyrics
Kage Eheh is an indie hip hop artist and producer. His family came
from Jamaica to Washington D.C. where he was born. The influence of
reggae combined with growing up in Maryland and being exposed to
everything from boombap to rock helped him develop a very eclectic and
diverse sound. Referred to by most as "Outside of the box", The ability
to play different instruments and produce his own songs gives him the
freedom to make what he wants when he wants. According to him "It's
almost like I have different personalities. People think because you act
one way you can't another way. It's stupid, there are different sides
to people. One day I'm feeling one way the next day I'm feeling another.
I'm a real person just like anyone else and my music reflects that. I'm
not gonna make the same songs over and over. One day I might wanna
party next day I might wanna read a book. It's just real life".
Ironically this self-produced single is about the
inner fight, the constant back and fourth battle between those different
personalities. One side trying to push everything to the limit not
thinking of the consequences and the other side constantly worrying
about the future, consequences, and wanting to be more careful or "Slow
It Down".
Polo & Chuck: The Movie
DJ Flexx and Don Juan join forces in this collaboration tribute to
The Godfather of Go-Go Chuck Brown and The Bounce Beat King Polo. The
Go-Go culture lost both Polo in 2013 and Chuck Brown in 2012 which left a
whole in the hearts of fans, while their impact will live on through
their music.
Shot during a tribute show at the Howard Theatre, the movie features
cameos from the genres greats as well as the families of both icons.
Original musical score and production by. JS aka The Best.

About The Humanities, Arts & Technology Festival at Gateway DC
Made possible
through a grant awarded by the District’s Office of the Deputy Mayor for
Planning and Economic Development (DMPED), the FREE festival series
will be held over two, amazing weekends in August and October of 2014.
The heart of the festival is located in the center of one of the District’s most prized historic campuses, St. Elizabeths East. The East campus is the home to Gateway DC, a park and pavilion that opened in September 2013. The Pavilion serves as a gateway to the St. Elizabeths East Innovation Hub and will usher in a new chapter of visitors to the campus, including local residents and the 3,700 U.S. Coast Guard employees. The Humanities, Arts & Technology Festival is the perfect platform to embrace the changes to the historic campus, while celebrating the District and Ward 8 communities’ rich heritage, culture and creativity. Festival events will kick-off on Saturday, August 2 at 1 p.m. The theme of this summer's festival is "Humanities, Arts & Technology at Work," and each day will include a fascinating, interactive display of the city's creative economy. Each date will feature an exciting scope of activities, live performances, art exhibits, readings and workshops, tech and food demonstrations, kid programming and other exciting activities that will be fun for the entire family. The festival series is presented by St. Elizabeths East, The Humanities Council of Washington, DC, THEARC, DMPED and Gateway DC.

@Omegatlp - (Product Of An 80's Love Affair)
It is rare these days to find an artist with both wisdom and age
on his side. At just 24 years old Omega posses the musical intuition of
an old soul. Hailing from Silver Spring, MD Omega (born Ronald Manning)
spent much of his young life moving around the D.M.V. and the only
things that really stayed consistent were his writing, the love from his
family, and the music he heard all around him. Heavily influenced by
greats such as Miles Davis, Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder, Tupac, Biggie,
Jimi Hendrix, and Bob Marley it is easy to see why Omega comes with such
a diverse and gripping sound. When asked what makes him stand out Omega
replies "All I do is tell my story. Everyone has a story that is unique
to them, I just tell mine and hope that other people can relate."
I just dropped a project titled "Project Of An 80's Love Affair" on May 10th. During the creation of this project I lost some good men, met a few, had to cut some of my brothers off, met one of my best friends, fell in love for the first time, fell out of love, moved to Indiana moved back to DC, went through one of the greatest times of my life, almost lost my life twice and had some crazy spiritual experiences. This here is two years in the making. I put a lot of me into this. I implore you to give it a listen. You don't have to like it I just ask you respect it and give it a chance.

@rodexodus - Here On Cloud 9
Jahrod Coates (also known as Rod Exodus) is a singer/songwriter from the
DMV area. He was born in San Diego, CA and raised in PG County, MD a
small county right outside Washington, D.C. where he spent most of his
childhood and teenage years. Jahrod started singing at the young age of
1. “I’ve been singing ever since I could talk,” Rod Exodus expressed,
“Singing is all I know, I can't and won’t do nothing else but sing.
Whenever I get the chance I sing!” He spent most of his childhood
singing in the church choir and various groups. “Mom’s made sure I was
in church. It wasn't until the age of 21 when Jahrod wrote his very
first song entitled, “Steady Switchin.” The song was based on all the
fake friends and people he encountered growing up in an urban area.
People who he thought were for him proved otherwise and plotted against
him. Though that was his first song he ever wrote, he felt it wasn't
strong enough to be his first single. From there, he wrote a song that
could be aimed at a larger audience entitled, “Here On Cloud 9” which is
the first single he released to the public. "Here on Cloud 9" is a song
about a long lost relationship and the sexcapades within it.
