Woosie......Explained some things to WWW.REALNEWSMAG.COM

The DC rapper known as "Woosie" has quietly made some major moves within the entertainment industry. Although hip-hop is his main focus, he's also worked as an actor on the hit HBO TV show "The Wire". Woosie is now pursuing his musical career full-time and he's formed alliances with rap heavyweights like Sickamore and the Cash Money Millionaires (Lil Wayne, Baby, etc.). Woosie recently did a video interview with DJ Vlad which has a lot of folks in the DMV (including myself) wondering who Woosie really is. He has taken time from his busy schedule to answer a few questions about his music and about other plans he has for the future.

DCSuperSid: Just for the record, state your name, what you do, and where you're from.

WOOSIE: I'm Woosie, "The Prince of DC", I'm a musician, and I'm from Northeast DC.

DCSuperSid: How did you get started in the music game?

WOOSIE: I was just rapping in the house with my brother, battling him and stuff. I started getting my skills down. I was getting better every day. It was just something that I had a passion for; everytime I heard a beat it would make me want to write (lyrics).

DCSuperSid: What artists influenced you musically?

WOOSIE: Here in DC it was the Oy Boyz and the Circle Boyz. Jay-Z and the Rocafella movement also inspired me. Some of my other favorites were 2Pac, Biggie, and Slick Rick.

DCSuperSid: Talk about your Cash Money connection.

WOOSIE: Cash Money, Young Money, Small Change - I rep it to the fullest, not because I want to sign with them although that is an option, it's deeper than that. From Baby, to Lil Wayne, to Jacc who discovered me - that's family right there.

DCSuperSid: You've got the internet buzzing with your recent video (with DJ Vlad). Do you have beef with Marky and Studio 43?

WOOSIE: Marky??? Kenny ??? - The "O Sheila" guy, OK, I know him. That kid (Marky) is still driving around in his mother's car. KB (Kenny Burns) walked him in Universal and got him a deal. Have you ever seen this nigga? Have you ever heard him on the radio? OK, my point is why does he have a deal?

I used to treat this lil nigga (Marky) like family. I gave him the clothes off my back. He didn't even know what Louis Vuitton was. To make a long story short - he's not official! He's from Waldorf (MD). They were going online making comments on my videos trying to get people to slander my character, so fuck Kenny Burns, Marky, and all the Studio 43 "get wits". I'm not hard to find. I'm not hiding from them, they're ducking me. When we were in California at the VMA's (Video Music Awards), me and my men went to his hotel and him and his producer were nowhere to be found. I still have the voicemails and text messages to prove it (he ducked me).

I'm always in my hood (River Terrace) just hanging out, doing videos, doing blogs, whatever. When will Marky do something in Kenilworth? The realKenilworth, not some side street where no one is.

DCSuperSid: What projects do you have planned for 2009?

WOOSIE: Good music, mixtapes, iconic collaborations. I have songs with Lil Wayne, DC artists and even artists from the West Coast. I'm in the process of paving a lane for other artists here (in DC). I'm gonna put my niggas on so after they make it they can put their niggas on, and keep it going like that. I'm going to stay humble and keep working hard, failure is not an option.

Thanks

Chillin?

Ok so......I still haven't heard the "Chillin" single but the feedback I been getting......... has been mixed reviews. What's really good with the single? I really don't want to hear it because I want to be in the club or something when it drop and see the crowd reaction etc...you know like all the other smash hits that are out! In Theory we need that song to be like that!

So holla at me and let me know what's cracking with the single!

Flat out hating comments can be recognized and will not be approved unless it's funny! LOL

Cudi talks alittle Wale!

Kid Cudi: After I saw that video, Wale and I got into an intense screaming match on the phone. But, that’s what friends do. We yelled at each other, and after all the yelling was over we spoke and then it was basically down to “Yo man, come on, you know me, I know you, you my nigga.” If you felt that way, just tell me. But he had been trying to reach out and granted, I felt like I should of reached out to him sooner. Every time I would try to talk to him, it was on the go. Also, I don’t want to get into sensitive deep conversations about stuff that’s just not important. You know, if somebody feels a certain way about me and I feel like they’re misunderstanding me, I don’t need to explain myself. I just try to shy away from it and just pretend like it never happened, and try to rekindle the friendship and let him know that its not like that.

Complex: What about the comments other people made who were in the room?

Kid Cudi: I definitely sensed a little bit of “I don’t understand Cudi” in that room. Not from Wale, but from everybody else because Wale understands me. Everybody else, I don’t expect them to understand it. I don’t even know half of the people in that room. I know Joe Budden. I’m a fan of Joe Budden. Will I expect Joe Budden to understand me? Maybe. If not, oh well. No sweat off my sack. Does 9th Wonder understand? Maybe. Do I like his production? Yeah. Would I love for him to be on my album? Yeah. But if he doesn’t get it, oh well. No sweat off my sack. It’s not something I’m going to cry over. The only reason why I reacted off of that video is because of Wale. But I didn’t solely decide to fall back on music because of that video. If niggas wanna have a team summit about Kid Cudi, I must be popping, to even be the subject in a dope conversation. Or I could be like, “Man, muthafuckas don’t need to be speaking my name if they ain’t got anything positive to say,” ’cause I don’t do anything wrong to anyone. I wouldn’t harm a fly, I’m not trying to be tough, and I’m not trying to pull nobody’s card. I’m already a person that is very reserved—that lonely stoner shit isn’t just a song. I’m reserved.

Thanks COMPLEX

Another thoughtful thought from KT. LOL

Looking around for some beats online, i came across this song on a popular mixtape website...

N.o.r.e Feat. Capone, Hell Rell, Uncle Murda, Maino, Tru Life, D.o.e, Ron Browz, Joel Ortiz, Spliffstar, Charlie Hustle & Mike Beck - Rotate (Official Remix)

WTF???????

Immediately i went spiraling into depression for about 5 minutes!!!! lol

The fact that so many artists can come together (no homo) on one track to make music is sooo dope!!!! Then it got me thinkin about the dmv like i normally do. Now i get alot of grief from people because they say im constantly comparing and contrasting the dmv with other areas thats poppin right now, but how can i not when they made it look so easy???  People (the outlets) keep tellin us (the artists) how different this area is from other areas and we cant do the samething....BULLSHIT!!!!!

Now this got me wondering, there are 12 artists on this one song....can yall ever see this many artists from the area on one song???? And not just a bunch of no name, poor quality production! Im talking "HEAVY" times 3!!!!!

I mean im always wit it, lol....but seriously i gets busy, but who would YOU wanna see on a track of this magnitude together????

Godamus Rhyme - "State of Mine"

Standing 5'9" and one hundred eighty-five pounds, Godamus Rhyme is not what you'd call a heavy weight... At least until you until you see his resume. A self-proclaimed renaissance man, the Maryland native plays the roles of rapper, producer, singer, and engineer and does each with the same unwavering focus and intensity. Raised in a home where traditional values warred with always being told to think for himself, this son of a lawyer and a preacher managed to grow up with a decent head on his shoulders.

"All I wanna do is make music for me. If other people feel it, thats a bonus," he says. Spending his high school and college days in training consisting of cyphers, voice and instrument lessons, and classes in audio engineering, this graduate of the world famous Full Sail University delivers on all fronts. From beats to rhymes to soulful harmonies, it seems like Godamus has it all.

But can he perform? Yes. As a member of the nation wide Gully Bears family and one of the masterminds behind the now defunct Caveman Theory, Goddy (as his friends call him) is no stranger to the stage. Having held it down with underground luminaries such as Boot Camp Clik (Duck Down), Cage (Def Jux), Mars Ill (Goatee), Jean Grae (Warner Bros.)Supastition (Soulspazm), Maya Azacena, Breez Evahflowin (Stronghold), Joell Ortiz (Koch), Poison Pen (Stronghold), iCON the Mic King (Uprising), PackFM (Qn5), the Weathermen (Def Jux), DeepSpace5 (Goatee), Splash (Amp Truth), CunninLynguists (Qn5), Sol-illaquists of Sound (Epitaph), and Immortal Technique (Baby Grande), his track record is proven. He talks it, walks it, and makes it sound damn good.
