I was geeking for this shit son and this jawnt let me down like shit. Last 2 tapes was way better. you uptown nigga make that shit nigga

Anonymous said...

^^i agree and this isn't son best work in my opinion and I'm a xo fan 5/10 top 5 emcees in the city. Seems like he was trying to make tape wit a feel like wales tape but fell short. For the hype he couldve came better.

This joint average at best. I ain't gonna judge him on just this album because his body of work is pretty much top notch. This probably feel like a Wale joint because BKS did most of the production on this joint (not knocking them). And they did the "Mixtape About Nothing"

Anonymous said...

this joint is banging and classic. EUROK | UPSET THE SETUP

i been listening all day and hers my 2 cents

Lyrics=8
Beats=5

Not sure what the concept or theme or whatever the "reealmatic" was suppose to be.

On thing that bugged me was the quality of it too. did sound right in my system sounded cluttered.

Im a xo fan forreal and i didnt really like this joint like the first 2 joints

as for sounding like wale tape yeah beat wise but hes a better lyricist than wale so with that said he shouldve chose beats less "a mixtape about something" sounding.

overall 7/10

Unknown said...

mane...........

the lyrics were on point

the mix quality was decent

and BKS beats always sound all the same....aside from the fact that if you buy or get a BKS beat there is a %99 chance 3 to 4 other local rappers also have that beat exlusively

lol

shit...i thought this joint was cool personally

i didnt hear the 1st 2 cause I aint know about XO then...

where can i get them?

@ Whitefolkz

On datpiff or xoupt.blogspot.com he got The Takover part 1, 2, & he gotta EP exclusively produced by Judah but da name of dat 1 escapes me right now. I'll listen a lil' later after I'm smacked.

this is his 4th tape, and i'm sure some of the better tracks might have been saved for Diamond District. his myspace should have Us Vs Them, and probably Takeover 2, but Takeover 1 is probably gone forever, and that is the best mixtape EVER.

needs more Team Demo, Judah, Oddisee and YU, and less BKS.

bout 3 hot joints out of the 15 to me. i was expecting something bigger (pause).

Anonymous said...

xo fan since the takeover but this shit here-WACKMATIC. I hold you to a higher standard x.

Anonymous said...

not fuckin wit this shit at all. nothin against homey but yeah

Anonymous said...

Its not that bad yall damn he couldve left the dark wale sound to wale but. Other than that it decent compared to what others puttin out

Anonymous said...

Yea i agree str8 LET DOWN forreal i was expecting some other shit....

Anonymous said...

This usually sucks xo dick but they show some realness this time. This joint was overhyped and it reminds me of a bootleg. Wale tape. I met xo at pure real cool dude and I think he's more talented then this. Sounded like he was high most of it.

MIXTAPE/ALBUM: X.O. UPTOWN :: "REALMATIC"

AFTER HEARING THE PRODUCER’S CREDIT (SHOUTS TO AB, RICKY PARKER, AND STUDIO 43) I EXPECTED GREAT THINGS FROM X.O FROM HIS CONTRIBUTION ON “GO HARD” AND MY SON DELIVERED! REALMATIC IS SHOWS WHAT EVERY RAPPER, AND MAN FOR THAT MATTER, LONGS TO HAVE AND THAT’S CREDIBILITY. X.O BRINGS YOU A REALNESS ON EVERY TRACK WITH THE SMOOTHNESS OF UPTOWN SWAG. LYRICALLY HE IS AN ANIMAL, GOING IN ON EVERY SINGLE TRACK ON THE TAPE. HIS FLOW REMINDS ME SO MUCH OF THE EARLY 90’S WITH THE ILL CIPHER RAPS ROCKIN OFF OVER REGULAR BEATS. WHAT I LIKED ABOUT HIS TAPE IS THAT UNLIKE OTHER MIXTAPES THAT I RECEIVE DAILY, HE SEEMED TO NOT GIVE 2 FUCKS ABOUT HAVING THE CRAZIEST BEAT OR THE CATCHIEST HOOK, HE WAS MORE CONCERNED AND FOCUSED ON GOING IN, AND THAT’S WHAT THE GAME TO ME IS MISSING. CAT’S THAT ACTUALLY GET ON THE MIC AND RIP IT, THERE ARE ENOUGH GUYS AND GALS MAKING THE NEXT CLUB BANGER OR SONG WITH RADIO POTENTIAL AND POP APPEAL BUT X.O BRINGS IT TO US REALMATIC. TRACK BY TRACK FLOW WAS GOOD. WENT FROM SOUNDS IN THE TRAP (“GET GET” AND “GET RICH”), TO THE CLASSIC FEEL WITH “HANDS UP” AND “1 OF THOSE DAYS,” WHICH HAD THE ILL CRAZY HORN ON THE BEAT. THE “I MADE IT” TRACK AS WELL AS THE REMIX IS A TRIBUTE TO X.O’S PAST AND FUTURE ACHIEVEMENTS AND WALE HIMSELF DROPS A VERSE ON THE “RIDIN” REMIX. X.O, IF YOU’RE READING THIS, PLEASE PLEASE DO ME AND THE KIDS A FAVOR AND CONTINUE TO KICK THAT “FOOD FOR THOUGHT.” I FELT LIKE YOU WERE ON ANOTHER LEVEL WHEN YOU WERE ON THE MORE SOULFUL, CLASSIC CIPHER BEATS. YOU CAN STILL BE THE HARDCORE, I “ WRITE FOR THE BLOCK, HOW COULD I GET WRITER’S BLOCK” EMCEE WITHOUT HAVING ALL THE HOOD BEATS ALL THE TIME. KEEP IT FUNKY GOD! I SWEAR YOU COULDA BEEN A 4TH EMCEE FOR THE LOX IN THE ’96 SON! LLS

LYRICS:4.5

FLOW (TRACK TO TRACK) 4

PRODUCTION: 3.5

TOTAL WEIGHT: 4.5 BOOTS

ALTHOUGH MY OPINION GOING SEEM EXTREMELY BIAS BEING THAT X.O. IS MY FAVORITE D.M.V. ARTIST AND ONE OF MY FAVORITE UP AND COMERS IN GENERAL, I THINK THIS TAPE IS DECENT. NOT AS GOOD AS HARD HITTING AS TAKEOVER 2. BUT AS GOOD OR IF NOT BETTER THAN US VS. THEM.

I DIDNT LIKE ALL THAT BKS SHIT TO BE HONEST. HEAR THEM BAMMAS ALL THE TIME NOW. TEAM DEMO AND ODD COULD HAVE BEEN USED AT TIMES I THINK, BUT AS I SPOKE WITH X.O. ABOUT THE TAPE AND WILL LATER ON TONIGHT, "HE WANTED TO GET AWAY" FROM THE NORM YOU KNOW. GIVE US SOMETHING DIFFERENT. UNTIL THEN PPL EAT THIS UP, AND IN A MONTH I HAVE BEEN TOLD WE GOING GET SOME NEW X.O.

ITS FUNNY CAUSE A LOT OF ARTIST HAVE BEEN PUTTING OUT A BUNCH OF BULLSHIT AND GETTING AWAY IT, BUT THE PPL IS NOT HAVING WHEN IT COMES TO X.O. BAMMAS WANT CLASSICS OUT OF DUDE, WHICH IS NOT A BAD THING TO LIVE UP TO

Anonymous said...

It fucked up that niggas talk a lot of shit bout this dude and now people hold him to a certain standard and he put this shit out. 9,12, and the joint wit wale crank everything else is unbearable.

Anonymous said...

6/10 just shouldve stayed away from the wale shit son.

Aight I gave it a listen here's what I think:

The lyrics are hot from start to finish. I usually ain't a fan of his type of flow, but the wordplay and real talk made me like it anyway. Not one wack verse on the entire joint.

The beats kinda blew me. They were good but 75% of them have forced congos added in them that ruined what would be good beats. Everybody already know we're from DC and that gogo is in DC, you don't HAVE to force a congo where it doesn't fit to represent DC.

But yea, hot CD, if you're on the fence Tork says download that thang.

XO is great. seriously. i seen him rappin at Cap City Records back a few four years ago..he was dope then. he dope now. I like Takeover joints a lil better. More diverse.

The only real complaint is the mixdown/mastering on this record. Once he gets a pro engineer on his team its a wrap. And thats a message 95% of the area artists need to know. No disrespect. Spend ya money on that mixdown and u good.

Take this advice emcees: Pay for a good engineer over a good producer. A good engineer will make everyone better. If u can afford a good producer AND a good engineer then all u gotta be is a pretty good rapper! Seriously.

Overok said...

Ditto.

This would have been a great record if mixed properly. Which can still be done. Kanye re-mixed his entire first album and re-released it.

Anonymous said...

After bumping this joint all day yesterday I realize what I didn't like about the album was too many BKS beats. Flow was on point. I just wish it was a little more diverse in the production dept. I agree also, it could have been mixed down much better.

Flow: 8.5
Beats: 5.5

With that said, XO one of the best doing it in the DMV

Anonymous said...

Bks fucked this shit up with them tired ass go go breakbeat shit and xo fucked this shit up wit all that singing shit. Lost on with this one. Hope the next one is better.

Anonymous said...

I was anticipating this joint and I had huge expectations. Although it's not as great as previous X.O. releases it's not like ya'll are making it out to be. Basically it comes down to the mixing for me. If this joint was mixed proper I would like this tape A LOT more. The lyrics are fire though, the beats are OK. I agree that there's too many BKS conga beats. You gotta mix it up a little bit. VERDICT - * 3.5/5 *

DING DING DING DING DING!!! Exactly why i'm forkin out big bread for my next 3 tapes. If it is that crisp quality....EVERYBODY WILL LISTEN TO IT! Guaranteed! All niggas want to do is ride around in the whip and bump shit or crank something in they bedroom while they brushing they teeth and can hear everything clearly....d'ling this tape today. Will be back with my verdict.

Anonymous said...

talked to X.O. about the tape last night at Pure...in my humble opinion, the tape is hot, but i'm the type of nigga to focus on lyrics above everything, and it's stamped that he doesn't have wack verses. less BKS woulda been great...well, not even less BKS, but BKS not throwing congos in EVERY beat. BKS is hot, i understand them tryin to have that as the signature, but at times, it just don't fit (Super Nintendo pause lol). and like Scrilla, Overok, and Abbot said, a better mix. but i don't even really care about that...i still listen to old Big L freestyles with the shitty quality cuz he lyrically kills shit...just like X.O. did on this tape. bong!

I went 2 Omega Studios's engineering school & trust me dat mixdown shit means alot slim. If ya'll caught E @ Pure dis week U heard how loud dat Priest Da Nomad mixdown was!!! Good engineering + good package + good marketing = a great buzz!!! I like dis joint overall it cause it cranks lyrically but da beats are just ok but nothin' special. Expected 2 hear more Judah & Oddisee on da production.

7/10

Xo is a beast lyrically but all together this shit hereee sucks ass. and I got 2 beats that on this joint. What the fuck is going on here.

hating ass anonymous cats is FUNNY

like i told XO, keep it moving and don't look back.

CRABS IN THE BARREL PASS THE OLD BAY.

Yes the sound quality could have been better, but thats cause the DMV is full of half ass studios that got pro tools and think they A PRO with tools so dudes dont know what well mastered quality hip hop sounds like

AS IM READING THIS COMMENTS, IM LITERALLY CONFUSED BY THESE WALE COMPARISONS. EVEN THOUGH MOST TRACKS WERE PRODUCED BY BKS, ITS STILL X.O. STRAIGHT UP AND DOWN. THE SAME SWAGGER AND FLOW FROM TAKEOVER, TIMELESS, AND US VS. THEM. X.O. AND WALE IS LIKE APPLES AND ORANGES. BOTH HOT, BUT HOT IN DIFFERENT. ITS LIKE COMPARING JAY-Z AND NAS. TWO DIFFERENT BAMMAS.

NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD SAY THIS BUT I WANT JUDAH OPINION. MATTER FACT I NEED JUDAH OPINION...JUDAH LET US KNOW WHAT YOU THINKING BIG HOMIE
