A lot of rappers sell drugs (or at least claim to) but these DMV cats Hustle. The DMV is full of talented artists who are done waiting patiently; and are ready to handle business on their own terms. From the DMV's most widely know son 'Wale, to it's rising stars, the hunger is damn near starvation, and the drive is 5th gear with the pedal to the floor board. World beware, the in-fighting and the "crabs-in-a-barrel" mentality are things of the past and the DMV is unified. Individually, each artist on the HUSTLER DMVmix has already been impacting the DC, MD, VA area, but now that they have joined forces (on this song and countless other collaborations), they are like a freight train at top speed! "Good luck stopping that!"
This is the DMV remix of R.E.U.B.'s song Hustler off his forth coming album "THE BLACK RAPPER SHOW starring R.E.U.B. co-starring CLINTON SPARKS." The HUSTLER DMVmix features South East Slim, K-Beta, Killa Cal, Laelo Hood, Von, Wordsmith, Greenspan, and reggae sensation Akshon!. The Jamaican born VA transplant, Akshon, is one of the most talented, unsigned reggae artists in the country hands down. Behind the microphone are some of the DMV's finest rappers, from THE WHAT Band's lead talker/rapper, Killa Cal, to the super lyrical and impressively insightful K-Beta, the listeners really get a feel for what the area is about. Artists like Laelo Hood and R.E.U.B. really take you on a personal journey and force you to place yourself in their struggles and feel their pain, while cats like Greenspan and Wordsmith tend to make your skin crawl with theatrics, lyricism, and B-more swagg. South East Slim opens the track up with his unique mixture of street glory and lyrical finesse, while the U-street warrior, Von really brings it home with an unorthodox cadence and sick punchlines.
All in all, HUSTLER DMVmix is a song that needs to be heard, by both those inside and outside of the DMV! It most certainly raises the questions, who from the area will be the next to blow and how soon?
