Accomplished Producer "Digga" speaks on these "New Artist". (Via Hiphopgame.com)

What do you think of younger artists like Kid Cudi and Drake being on
The Blueprint 3?

I think on one hand, they're the new artists that are coming up and Jay
realizes that and he likes that and it's putting him in a position to
kind of bring the old with the new. But as a fan of Jigga, I just don't
like it because I feel like Jay is good enough to make an album without
many features on it and two, I don't believe that them dudes have paid
their dues enough to get on an album of that stature. I believe that if
Jay was working on an album in 1999, they wouldn't be on the album
because at the stature that they're at right now, those artists wouldn't
be on a Jay-Z album. They just wouldn't, I believe. Maybe Drake because
of the hype that's built around him, but none of these dudes have put
out an album yet or sold any records. They're doing shows and stuff but
I think they wouldn't have been on the album. They would have been
growing in the underground until they reached that point but things
change and it is what it is. Hopefully it'll work out for Jay.

How do you feel about the new class of artists rising up?

Honestly, to be totally honest, I really don't listen to any of the
dudes to that point. I might have heard one or two songs from these
artists like Drake, Kid Cudi and J. Cole. But nobody has excited me to
the point where I'm like, 'These are the next dudes.' It's just the
media that's saying that. With dudes like Wale, I just don't really hear
what other people are hearing. That's just my opinion. I don't know what
it's going to take but I'm not hearing it. I'm not excited about any of
these dudes.

Digga has produced for 50, Jay Z and many others and I thought he perspective was interesting and somewhat similar to mine.

I Kind of feel him but a hot song is a hot song no matter if a "new school" artist is on it,

Yeah, I read the same article. The only thing I can come up with is that, even though we still young cats, the hip hop we know was some if not the best of the best period. And whatever you hear now, you gonna be listening to it with that perspective. Not saying you going to go on em' everytime you hear em', but you know what good hip hop sound like and sometime these cats are so cocky you just like come on man, I've heard and know better! Simple as that.

Holon soo he's tellin me he's not feeling Cudi's different vibe..Drake's lyricism (mostly about women but still solid lyrically).. and Wale + JCole's lyricism and focus to bring bak hiphop!

IMO thats crazy because i think all of them provide something different but show signs of prior successful musicians.

And he said he's only heard 2 songs. I honestly think you cant speak on something if youve only heard a VERY LIMITED amounts of.

Like Rather Unique said, if it's hot it's hot. No matter how anticipated an album is or who the artist is, if you have talent than you deserve your spotlight. Somebody put Jay on cause he was hot even though he was a beginner (remember when he was Jaz's sidekick?) and that's what he's doing for other artists...and J.Cole is sick! He may not be next, but I damn sure want him to be.

Like he said, its just his opinion. I bet you'll find a bunch of heads like that dude who feel the same way. It is what it is......

i feel the same way he do also...i just don't see what people hear in these new artists. i don't get Wale at all in particular. i do believe in supporting the hometown kid who is trying to make a name for himself though. so from that perspective i see why the bandwagon is out on Wlae in this area...i just don't see how that will translate to other parts of the country that don't have that emotional tie to him. when its all said and done, its the talent level that will sustain them...not some hype machine deadset on producing SOMEONE who can be that next superstar. at the same time, i think we put too much pressure on these young dudes to be that next superstar instead of just appreciating what they do bring to the table. again, i don't see that Wale is that great as people make out to be, but i do appreciate that he brings something to the music world table. nothing wrong with "defending his honor", but people that like him just need to chill da fuck out when they see that someone else may not be feeling him in the same way. and not because they being "hater" but because he just isnt their taste in music. dude in the article is entitled to his opinion just like everyone else. i just get sick of people in this town who get their panties all in a bunch JUST because someone say something negative about Wale! In some circles he's a lyrical god...in others he is some sauce...accept that and move on.
