FTDMVO EXCLUSIVE- PROMOTER FOR 930 SHOW (DMV SOUTH TAKEOVER) RESPONDS

THIS EMAIL WAS SENT TO ME FROM BRUCE IN REGARDS TO THE 930 SHOW------->INTERESTING

This email is from a good friend by the named of Mike Chanko, I was also helping with the promotion of this event at the 930 Club this past Saturday, so this is what actually happend on Saturday night.....the real deal is it's too bad when you have artists from the local area and they don't want to show the DMV no love ...not all but alot of artist who make it out of the DMV switch up on you when they do and I guess it happened again.........Bruce

Mike Chanko:

Ok, here it is. I lot of people wondering what is going on and what had happen to bun b.  I was on to ask to be on a few show to discuss the dmv south show @ the 930 club. Wale been twitting negative things about my show for weeks after weeks, but this put the icing on it. I have a addenum sign specificly for this matter. The management sign addenum thats fax to me, I couldn't attach it to show his signature. Click on to read the contract addenum and click on to read what wale said. My argument with Bun B manager is that, there boy wale falsify bun where abouts. Damaging my show. Wale was not even in houst. he was in darmount (n.h) when he did this twitting and bun was flying from tulsa to dc and I check him in his hotel. I brought it to bun and his manager and they saw the same thing. They said they can't control what wale do. Well if wale is your boy why is he messing with the show that your on. That means if the show flop bc of him, 9 out of 10 the promoter will cancel you out and you will not get your 2nd half. In this case my addenum speaks for itself. Does bun b really know what wale just cause bc of his ignorance and ecotistic. Bun manager still want his 2nd half, I refuse bc it violates my contract. That's why bun didn't make it to the show.

Now washington post wrote about what happen to the show? The 930 club of course blame the promoter, but the 930 club also gave me the wrong ticket sale, making me think it was 285 a couple of days before the event and when I came to the venue the day of the event they said I only sold about 70 tickets. My mouth drop. They said it was including my comps I pull out. I have a email states my ticket "sales". not Comps. Thats two different words. Also the day of the event, I have at least 30 + people that told me when they tried to purchase ticket's online, it boot them off the sale and said ticket aren't available for this show. This concert had a lot of support and great promotion behind it to only sell about 70 tickets when it's been promoted 6 weeks in advance. We talking about radio and college radio, ad truck, email blast, 40k + flyer, posters and every colleges in this area was hit and to have 70 sold. Something's not right! If I would had known ticket sale was that low with all the negative twitting between wale and tabi, I would had postpone for another date so there won't be any interference. Tabi did it bc after they agreed on the show, I put them on the flyer later came back and ask me for more money, that's dirty, I have no respect for a person like that!! Did wale and tabi know, that also cause the up and coming dc artist there chance for a big audience to come see them. bc of his ignorance.

His local booking/assistant MIKE WILSON, confirm his appearance and along with being on the flyer I have that on my phone text confirming it. The 930 also got a call from the other booking agency and said the same thing but bc they got the date conflicted, I was to blame. So where was I wrong for wale to twitt negative things about my event. Since he was annouce to the vma he got a bigger offer from the college and that's where he went with. He never blame his camp or his camp never told him the truth and let him run his mouth. Its one of the reason why wkys diss him. "We only play hot songs" Why support Wale for when he don't even support the up & coming artist. This show was not just about me, I have so many call about artist wanting to open up, I couldn't put everyone on, I tried. Everyone know, performing @ the 930 club, is a good look on your resume, I didn't have to add anyone on but I did it bc I feel there are good talent here in the dmv. I'm trying to give them a chance and I got screw. I have more radio interview and I'm about to clear it with the washington post as well, if anyone had read it. Thanks for your support, you deserve to know the truth!!

DMV REBELS

On everything...I knew that UCB , WALE and Tabi was not performing when the flier first came out(and so did the promoter and most of the performers)..I just didnt want to bring bad promo to the event, because I knew all the artist that were opening up at the 930. But now it's over ,the air should be cleared.Wale had been booked for dartmouth (I might have spelled that wrong)along time ago.Im not following Wale on twitter so I dont know about the tweets, however I was there when Tre of Ucb was asked about it and I was there when we found out Wale was not doing it (how was I there? We were inquirying about Black Cobain getting on the show ..which he was.. Black Cobain is signed to my client The Board Administration and Mo of The Board manages Tre and they do alot of business with UCB .On Tabi's Behalf he came out and said it as soon as the flier hit...

As a promoter noone wants this to happen..But mathmatically you did it wrong...One you should have stilled paid Bun B (Cause you made it seem as if he were the Headliner and ppl would have been satisfied)Wale was a plus (He performs here alot, and he just did a free show here)..2 You knew this show was a #thiscouldfail atleast 2weeks before,to me you wanted to hustle ppl out of there money...3. You knew atleast two nights before about Wale and UCB.. you should have made a annoucement. 4 You knew Bun B was not performing that night ,You should have made annoucement but you were willing to let ppl pay 30$ still ..thats dirty..5.You just made it extra harder for promoters to promote local hiphop to these venues..6.I never threw a big time show , but i do know contracts are signed before u make fliers...

Note to other artist : It would been gr8 if you guys didnt bash this show , but alot of you guys cant get out the box and your not leaders so u followed..I seen the tweets and it wasnt fair to none of the opening acts..It's like you guys dont have ur own mind...or many were like Im not on the show, so I aint supporting it, or aint nobody from VA on there (but it was)...regardless of this promoters bad business tatics ,If we would have gotten one good write up this would have opened DC's eyes even more to the local music scence...but instead we took three step backwards...

Again to the promoter I heard the opening acts did a hell of a job and the shh pulled is over shadowing it...

Shameless Plugs..(Note: The Board wrote the treaty for pat ur weave, also dress UCB for the VMA's, plz follow @thaboard and Follow Black Cobain @blackcobain and Check for Now or Never coming...and me @igotit4free)..
RatheMC(oct 3) , Don Juan (oct 5 or 6 TwittTape)and Xo(today at eyebar) are all doing it big this Week plz support...

peace .....

I don't know what this dude is talking about but I handle Tabi's local booking. I talked to Darnell the manager of Reaction Band and he said that he was throwing a show at DC Star and could Tabi hop on. We said cool, I gave him a price, he said he had to talk to his people. Out of no where flyers appear with Tabi's face on them so it is to be assumed that you agreed on the price (even though the price that was quoted was for Tabi to hop on WITH Reaction Band, and not a solo performance and it was for DC Star not 9:30 Club); I spoke to Darnell shortly after seeing the flyers and he said that the price that we agreed on was not in the budget, we said fine we can't do the show. I then personally asked Darnell to put me in contact with the person who was promoting the show so I could tell them to please stop putting Tabi's image on promo material cause he would not be performing. This was at least 3 weeks prior to the show happening. I personally spoke to promoter 4 TIMES!! telling him to please remove Tabi from the promo material cause we had been receiving calls about him performing and we weren't going to be able to perform. At no point in time did we agree to perform and then change the price. At no point in time did we discuss the fact that a price had been agreed on and that we felt the need to renegotiate, and we spoke on 4 DIFFERENT OCCASSIONS! If you ask me if Tabi can perform and I quote you a price, then you go ahead and put him on the flyer it is to be assumed that you agreed on the price. If we agreed to a price and then switched, where is the contract? If we agreed to a price and then switched what was the price that we agreed to? If we agreed to a price and then switched when did we agree to that price and at what point did we re-nig? If we agreed to a price and then switched why did the promoter tell me that there was no money in the budget for Tabi and that he was putting him on at the request of Darnell? I don't know about what happened with Wale and Bun but I know what happened with Tabi and based on how far from the truth that interpretation was I'm willing to assume the rest is bullshit too.

Promoter get over so much. whats the difference between this guy and dre all day? Niggas fall for the hustle all the time and throwing shows is one of the famouse ones in this area.

Throwing shows are stressful and if the artist your booking have funny managers and middlemen then there will definitly be some issues. I feel sorry for the other local artist that was on the bill.

looks like the promoter tried to "create" an event before he had the funds to produce the event...

difference here is that you have some DMV artists that require a fee and others that just want to perform on the love.

when I first started doing events i didnt have money, nor did I get paid to put on sneaker suite parties. I remember doin a sneaker party with wale at avenue and he put on a dope ass performance for his paint a picture mixtape release and i had absolutely nothing to give him but a thank you. please believe i kept that in mind when I got that auto show budget in 07 and was able to put a stack in his hand to perform, well before he was signed to a major label. same situation with raheem, i couldnt afford that dude, but we had a great working friendship and i was able to mix both into the equation correctly without any issues. same situation with tabi, not once have i worked with him until 2009. All had the joy of being a part of a sneaker suite situation and had no issues contractually.

Why no issues? because you have to go about things formally and cover ALL angles. Its more to it than just a thought.

now its time to put $$$ in the hands of others coming up in the game so they can develop their craft even more and put out dope projects. artists like kingpen slim, cobain, lyriciss, ra, and more who have PRODUCT and a story to tell.

This is what its about in the end.

Maybe the promoter assumed the DMV would be behind it because it was a DMV event?

Yung first thing first...this nigga can't type worth isht. WTF? I miss part the message just tryna understand what he was saying. Either way all this finger pointing biz is some bull-isht! If you ain't do the jawn right then take responsibility. Niggas getting paid right now so when yung is successful you gotta expect to put some bread up even if jo is from the area. It's business first and folk fail to understand that. I don't know who did what or what went down but I constantly see Tabi name on isht that I KNOW he ain't performing at. These bamas keep putting names on bills that ain't gonna be there. Ya only messing up your own credibility. I wouldn't do anything til contracts are signed and fund issues are resolved. Simple as that.
But again...WTF IS UP WIT YUNG GRAMMAR?!

Let's get it together DMV. This lack of organization has been the downfall of our people AND OUR CITY long enough.

I rock with a lot of artists in this area.

However, I would not pay $30 to see JUST THEM at the 930 Club. That's no diss. That's real.

So, you have artists like Tabi and Wale to boost the value.

Even still...not sure about $30.

$20 tops.

When you add an artist like a Bun B, or a Scarface...you get $30.

Easy.

Without Bun B...then, without Tabi and Wale...

The show ended before it started.

Hello to all that reads this letter I am MIKE WILSON the "booking agent/assistant" Mr. Chanko is referring to that supposedly agreed to this appearance by Wale. First let me say that I was in CONVERSATION not NEGOTIATIONS with Mr. Chanko about an appearance for a show at DC Star on Sept. 18th with Bun B. I say CONVERSATION because he never mentioned that GUAP and Wale doesnt work for free in a case where your gonna pay another artist. Mr. Chanko thought that the Wale and Bun B friendship could be played to his advantage by getting Wale for free cuz he had Bun B booked. No contract was signed No money exchanged and on top of that he switched the show date to the 26th and we were booked to label obligations. Mike "InSufficient Funds" Chanko couldnt even pay his headliner (Bun B) and he blames Wale WOOOOOOWWWWW! Its Wale fault he sold 70 tixs in 2 weeks give me a break, im not a promoter and with the help of our team we sold out the 9:30club with your same line up and NO Bun B! 1100 tixs when 900 is considered a sellout thats over capacity. So to Mike Chanko i say to you better marketing plan, better promotions, and some money to pay the artist! Dont shop for Bentley's (BunB) with Bucket (side by side band) money! WE OUTCHEA! Wale puts on for his city see UCB and holla back! A numerous of free features for local artist not to mention DMV on blast everywhere we go from VMA's to Australia so to question him so called making it and not giving back or whatever Bruce said I say to you get on your own grind and stop waiting to capitalize on another man's! Thanks Judah for this opportunity to post and to everybody reading Have a Nice Day!

Mike Changko said...

To all the comments I've read. This letter was only going out to my promo. team, the artist that was on the line up and those that supported the event. They felt strong about the truth and wanted to blast it off. Of course if you read it, it would sound chop up bc you wouldn't really understand unless you were part of the event. I was not writing a article. I sent ftdmvo the contract addenum to post about the violation of my contract with bun b. Wale should had never mention his name. It started from wale twitting my event with negativity. Wale twitting my event is one thing but why put bun in the mix, this had nothing to do with bun, bc he had followers, now they thought bun was not coming. I have a text from mike wilson phone confirming the appearance that i save. The 930 club also recieve a call from the other booking agency saying the same thing but bc the date was conflicted, they apologize. That's Wale management internal problem, not mine. The agreement was 1k for him to show up, it was not for free. By than I had already printed 30-40+ pls flyers. I told him the only thing is the radio, I haven't done and I will keep wale name of it. So where did I go wrong for wale to continue to twitt and blog my event. If bun is his boy & he's a supporter of the dmv, all he had to say was, he apologize for not going to make the show and still go check out his man bun and the other artist, instead he decided to go against the event. If he felt I falsify his name, that's what his attorney is for. Why mess it up for everyone. Including bun money. It have nothing to do with the 2nd half I tried to negotiate with them, but if you violate my contract, i'm not obligated to pay anything. He would have to go after the person whom falsify him, but of course, it didn't play out like that. I been in this business for 12 years. Started off working for relativity records, when bone thugs & harmony was the hottest artist around. These dudes just got into the game and it seems to me are very naive. I have nothing against wale but what wale did could have been stop if his people would have man up to what they did. This event cost me almost 20k before the door had open, after what happen you think I should pay bun b another 7k. So With tickets sold under 100, are you telling me bun b has no fans in dc at a real respectable venue like the 930 club and Wale sold 1100 tic's before he even had a real single play on air. That's kind of odd, don't you think. This event overhead is almost 30k. So mike wilson watch what you say. This could have been resolve if you would had man up and talk to wale. I got your text confirming it and I have bun b contract addenum proving it. I really don't have to explain anything to any body but bc I feel my team and supporter deserve the truth, it was the right thing to do. Even if my tickets did sell out, I still wouldn't had made much. If the dmv can't support a event like this, than this is why the dmv will also have a problem taking it to the next level and for tabi, I offer him to come as a appearance after the miscommunication and still had paid him, instead his eco & pride put him in the same box. If you would like to contact me direct here's my email mikecko@msn.com
Thank you!!
