Darius
Wolley was born in DC, raised in notoriously poverty-stricken Southeast
and later in the college-town suburbs of College Park, Maryland. The
dichotomy of his upbringing is reflected in his music as a songwriter
and artist, which frequently juxtaposes edge and enlightenment. Although
relatively new to industry ears, Darius is no stranger to music,
creating songs that speak the truth of young America.

@therealLakes @itsMDK - City on Lock
Sic Itur Ad Astra ("Thus do we reach the stars") – The Motto For Richmond, Capital City of Virginia.
To standout as an artist in today's turbulent Hip-Hop climate, full of purchased cosigns, backroom deals and other barriers against fresh innovation, there remain some acts worth their salt who won't need such maneuvers. Meet Dark Wave – a duo consisting of Richmond, Virginia natives Christopher Lakes and Matty.
Richmond has made a splash on the Hip-Hop map in times past. However, Dark Wave isn't resting on past rap glory as they seek to make their own unique impact on a scene constantly eager for the next big thing.
Christopher Lakes and Matty, soloists in their own right, have already crafted potent music on their own. Together, they usher in what they call their “Dark Sound” and there are few words that can explain. For the group, Dark Wave is more than just music, which is something the duo explains in detail.
“#DarkWave is our movement. We feel as if we're the voice for the youth and that we have the best upcoming project any artist has had. We want to make our stamp in the game and look forward to establishing our Dark Sound. We want to be remembered as a couple of the hardest working artists the industry has ever seen, in all aspects of the game.”
The Dark Sound is better experienced than heard. Ambient, aggressive, melodic, often all at once, the Dark Sound surrounds the listener and seizes upon their entire being. Dark Wave is confident that if their music is given a chance, it will raise your consciousness with immediacy.
Christopher Lakes and Matty have been working quietly behind the scenes to craft their best work. With youth and talent on their side, Dark Wave will undoubtedly shift the balance in their favor. While fans are force-fed mediocrity masked by big hooks and false features, Dark Wave takes a far more sincere approach with their art.
#DarkWave. Let it take you over but never under.

CAYAN -"ADIDAS"
Cayan is back at it again for the winter after releasing his full length project, District Of Caylumbia 3 earlier in the summer. This time though, things are a little different. Cayanaten features
sole production from the in house Cap Life sound squad, Young Savior
(Popular, City Slickin) and newcomer Spida The Coolie. This project has a
unique and unified sound like no other.
"ADIDAS",
produced by Spida The Coolie, finds a young man hustling to make ends
meet in a materialistic world, with a conscious mind and nonchalant
attitude. Ol Dirty Bastard vocals set the tones for the intro,
intensifying the balance factor between being godly and getting it by
any means.
There will be a video shoot in DC for this song this upcoming weekend. Expect the full project before the years end.
David Gibson DMV No Flex Zone(Remix)
Listen
to David Gibson's remake of "No Flex Zone." The original was done by
Rae Sremmurd. And who said, "Sequels are never as good as the
original!?" You would disagree with that statement after listening to
this track. David Gibson, an artist based out of Washington, D.C. definitely is reppin' his city well with this track!

@aclassics @tomdelaybeats @brakefast - That Shit Right (Music Video)
Nightwriter is A-Class’s 3rd Brake Fast Records’
release, produced entirely by Tom Delay Beats. Although the pair has
worked closely together throughout the years, this is first time Class has spit
exclusively on Tom Delay’s production for an entire project.
A-Class is a battle rap veteran who has consistently provided a
stream of exceptional music, even before he stepped on the battle scene.
In the Grind Time and KOTD rings, he has faced the likes of Dizaster, Rone,
Madness, Tantrum, and Sonny Bamboo. He remains a fierce opponent in the
battle circuit and continues to travel the world squaring up with some of the
scene’s best.
The composition of the Nightwriter EP primarily
documents A-Class’s experiences on the road and in between battles, much of it
having been written during about his expeditions, as well as about them.
The progressive emcee continues to develop his customary free-flowing rhyme
construction and unconventional flows around some catchy hooks, which is
largely deviant from the unorthodox structure of Class’s previous recorded work.
Tom Delay Beats’ phonic background for the 7 song EP is expanse,
ranging from bass heavy joints like “Bitch What You Talkin Bout” and “Kenny
Lofton” to the funky-sounding sampling found on “Bus To NYC” and true school
bangers like “Super Fat Laces”. Tom Delay structures the overall sound of
Nightwriter with clean, addictive melodies and heavy drums that allow
A-Class to display his rhythmic abilities.

Bo Jankans Bio
“I am authentic, every word is augmented, all the other talk is nonsense so I don't talk with it” – Bo Jankans, “Between The Lines”
If one compared Hip-Hop to a highway, the roads are certainly overrun these days with acts that lack true potency. However, nestled in the suburbs of the Washington Metropolitan area is an artist that aims to stand out among the typical fare. His name? Bo Jankans.
Hailing from Herndon, Virginia, a town just 24 miles outside of the Nation's Capital, Bo Jankans knows full well that the current Hip-Hop landscape is lacking. In his own words, the dexterous MC has concocted a vision that is both lofty and admirable considering today's fickle climate.
“I want people to focus more on the message and what we as musicians are saying as opposed to a dope beat that will make girls shake their butts in the club. I want to give words to people who can't find the right words to say in their own life and situations. I want to remind people of the power of music.” – Bo Jankans
Cynics will most certainly respond, “We've heard this before,” but not in the fashion that Bo Jankans delivers. His last project, The Motormouth EP, produced entirely by fellow Northern Virginia native DR $crilla Ventura, displays evident growth in Bo Jankans from his last official project, Realism
Naming underground rap veterans Atmosphere, the late lyrical wizard Eyedea, legendary The Doors lead vocalist Jim Morrison and Incubus lead singer Brandon Boyd as influences, it isn't difficult to grasp how Bo Jankans came to his earnest goals in music.
With collaborations alongside fellow independent acts such as Reef The Lost Cauze, Moka Only, Seez Mics of Educated Consumers fame, Louis Logic and vocalist India.Arie, Bo Jankans has put in the requisite work inside the booth. He has also shared stages with celebrated acts such as Pharoahe Monch, Freeway, 9th Wonder, CunninLynguists, Homeboy Sandman and Copywrite.
Bo Jankans is gearing up for the release of The Motormouth EP: Act II, which drops in October 2014. After a third “act” in the Motormouth EP series, Bo Jankans will focus his energies on releasing a full-length album.
Bo Jankans may not be on the hot station rotation at the moment, but the integrity he presents in his music far outweigh any commercial ambitions he could have. Bo Jankans will undoubtedly gain the proper light and attention his music deserves, one powerful bar at a time.
Bo Jankans. Familiarize yourself with the name. He'll be around for a while.

@innerloopbeats @scrillaventura @grussle @casitodelfresco - Inner Loop - S.I.L.K. (Official Music Video)
The Washington Metropolitan area, affectionately known as the DMV –
which stands for the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia
respectively – has its share of top Hip-Hop talent. In recent times
however, producers from the region have struggled to stand apart from
the rappers that dominate the landscape. The production trio of J
Scrilla, Casito and Grussle all aim to flip that perception.
Where Inner Loop will succeed in winning ear drums is how each producer cover various ground in their styles.
J Scrilla, a veteran DJ out of Northern Virginia, has been one of the more active names on the underground with acts such as Heltah Skeltah, Killer Mike, Nipsey Hussle, Roc Marciano, Mobb Deep and countless others blessing his tracks with their vocals. Inspired by legends the Bomb Squad, RZA, and DJ Muggs, Scrilla's ear for the aggressive and melodic is unmatched. And in the live setting, Scrilla's infectious personality adds to the entire package. With his focus on having a one of a kind sound, J Scrilla is well on his way in carving his name in the annals of history.
Casito, a D.C. native who was raised in nearby Prince George's County, takes a more polished sonic approach. With an ability to grasp the youthful sounds of today coupled with uncanny musical complexity, Casito's best years are ahead of him. Influenced by the late, great J Dilla, Alchemist and the legendary Quincy Jones, Casito has provided soulful backdrops for Pastor Troy, Wais P, G-Two, and Trademark Da SkyDiver. Casito simply wants to be known for his consistency and bringing an authentic approach with his production. Based on his body of work so far, he's achieving that and will do far more.
Grussle, also from Northern Virginia, has been a buzzing name on the local scene with expert showings in various beat battles and showcases. Simply put, Grussle is the soul selector of the Inner Loop conglomerate. In a game where samples and loops are often a rarity, Grussle puts the lost art of the chop back up front where it belongs. This isn't to say Grussle is a one-trick pony, as he's just as capable as his compatriots to change his style at a moment's notice. Counting 9th Wonder, DJ Premier, Oddisee, Madlib and other dusty-fingered beat-smiths as influences, Grussle can proudly line up with any of the aforementioned and go head-to-head.
Together, the Inner Loop production squad have a collective goal: to become the go-to producers in not only the DMV region, but throughout the vast expanses of Hip-Hop period. From neck-snapping bangers, to soulfully layered sounds, and to that unadulterated filthy, nasty funk, Inner Loop most definitely has all lanes covered.

JD The Junior plans to continue working with these big names and bring talent, music and sound to his possible new label/company Jet Major Entertainment.
JD The Junior is quickly becoming recognized in the DMV rap circuit because of his "Heavy Hustle" (His Breakout Song of 2012) and doesn't plan to stop there. Sources state that JD The Junior grows more and more each day and gives 110% in any of the work he does. Not only as an upcoming music artist but also as a student, businessman, possible promoter and entrepreneur. JD The Junior is said to have done a few shows around the DMV area alongside in other states and often stays busy with school and music. As more music and work is prepared and the near future approaches, it’s no telling what the year may have in stores for JD The Junior or what JD The Junior has in stores for us.
@TaricaJune - Stream of Consciousness
WASHINGTON,
DC - Back to shake up hip-hop, indie emcee Tarica June drops her highly
anticipated second release, "Stream of Consciousness, Vol. 1", along
with 2 accompanying videos--"S.O.C. (Cray)" and "GONE".
The
project's title 'Stream of Consciousness' signifies not only a desire
to raise consciousness, but also a pure reflection of inner-most
thoughts and feelings without concern for typical song structures. In
this sense S.O.C. feels like a whirlwind of words--a train you get on
and ride until the last stop (in this case, the 16th track). Primarily
driven by lyrics, the project's final destination is a much deeper
understanding of who this emcee called Tarica really is and
where/why/how she fits into this over-crowded space called hip hop.
On
S.O.C. Tarica tackles many issues generally untouched in hip-hop,
including school debt/student loans, general dissatisfaction with
post-college life; the struggles of being an independent artist ('My
Life'); the ever-expanding prison industrial complex --particularly its
effects on those on the outside ('Babylon System' & 'Blame');
love--both realized, and unrealized ('L.C.S.' & 'Crush'); general
insecurities and triumphs associated with artistic expression ('Hello');
and even frustrations with life in modern-day D.C.--from gentrification
to parking tickets ('But Anyway'). The project is a mixture of industry
beats and underground ones featuring the likes of Dela (Paris), J.
Faraday (Houston), and Brock Berrigan (New Jersey).
Once
again, as on Moonlight Revolution, Tarica June stands alone. Still
unsigned, and still not introduced to the world by men (or anyone for
that matter), she embraces her outsider status, in many cases drawing
power from it. "...all it takes is for them clowns to see you with a
dude sometimes... they'll use that as an excuse to claim 'he must be
writin her rhymes'." she raps on 'Hello' (Tarica's take on Drake's '0 to
100'). Unfazed by it all, Tarica June is determined to be heard despite
the odds stacked against her.
Stream of Consciousness, Vol. 1 is the start of what's sure to be a thought-provoking and enjoyable series.
About Tarica June:
Tarica June's first project, Moonlight Revolution (2010), appeared
unexpectedly and was met with critical acclaim (being called "The most
important project in recent hip-hop memory" by HipHopDx and "Brilliant"
by SoulBounce). This gave rise to many performance opportunities
including opening for the likes of Dead Prez, Talib Kweli, and Brand
Nubian, and headlining various shows and festivals throughout the United
States (including B-Girl Be (Minneapolis), D.O.P.E. Conference (North
Carolina A & T), S.A.M.I. (Howard University, Washington, DC).
Tarica has since finished law school and passed the bar exam. Nowadays
when she's not emceeing she's helping other independent artists with
their contractual needs. Her music can be found on her website: http://www.taricajune.net.

Ezko has just released his newest single, "Just Us" (prod. CaZtheProducer), as a prerequisite to his upcoming project, Coming of Age.
