Young Sonic
When the music industry called for a breath of fresh air, Brandon Williams answered with a brand of music that embodies the struggle of urban youth. He goes by the name Young Sonic. Hailing from Prince Georges County, MD, his genuine lyrical flow and constructive subject matter is widely accepted in the underground hip hop arena.
This 15 year old lyrical mastermind is highly regarded amongst his peers and has struck a large local fan base through his “out of the box” mentality. Young Sonic strives to continuously exceed all expectations by giving the people exactly what they want and more. Currently putting the finishing touches on his first mixtape, “A 360 Change,” he is determined to reach the masses with his captivating message and bring substance back to hip hop.
At a very young age, Young Sonic was introduced to a unique style of music, which was conceived in D.C, called "go-go". Strongly desiring to be in a Go-go band, he taught himself how to play the keyboard/piano. Spending every unused moment of his life practicing his keyboard skills, he later entered numerous bands. Most of his weekends were spent at several go-go clubs which ended around two in the morning. At this point, he slanted towards nothing but his go-go band. His behavior was undesirable and his tolerable grades dropped. Due to ill-mannered behavior his mother, Regina Williams, expelled him from the band.
In fall 2008 he was enrolled as a freshman at Dr. Henry A. Wise High School. He knew that he had to make a change, not only in his life, but academically. He made a promise to himself that he will construct a more confident posture towards school. He began to raise his grades and conducted himself in a more ordered fashion. After gaining a strong relationship with his English teacher, Martin Copeland who later became his mentor, Young Sonic began attending services at Zion Church in Landover, MD with Mr. Copeland and was inspired to surrender his life to God. Finally, he fully submitted his life over to a positive course, and began to promote successful living through lyrical art.
Young Sonic is bringing a new light to the industry with belief that everyone will soon recognize the name and appreciate the music. When speaking about his musical success, he states “History will be good to me, for I shall write it!” Young Sonic is entering the hip hop game at a perfect time. When people are starving, they are forced to pay attention. Listen carefully as Young Sonic breathes life into a famished industry.
