Mixtape about nothing was crazy, The Xo Joint, us vs them is my favorite right now tho...not sure when it came out but i just heard it for the 1st time two weeks ago...I heard the all I do is Rap joint too, I liked it, with some better production behind it , Kt's joint will be a problem. The Great Debate is Ill too, not sure if it came out in 08 or 09 tho.
Aside from Wale's Seinfeld nod, XO's Takeover and Oddisee's 101 (I know it was released for free at first), there weren't many standout DMV mixtapes that I caught wind of and I'm a music critic for several media outlets. That said, my ear is to the street in 2009.
In no particular order, and not countin our ridiculously incredible "Lift Off" joint lls, here's what I got:
1. M1 Platoon - We Not Them Pt.1 Def aint know they was doin it like that out here, but yeah, one of my fav's.. 2. XO - Us vs Them This joint goes, maybe even harder than Realmatic forreal.. 3. Wale - Mixtape About Nothing Couldn't make the list without this joint, obviously 4. Dat Illmatic remix joint was vicious as shit too! It was some real hip hop heads spittin on that project, I was pretty impressed 5. Mouse - Mo Betta Vol 1 Yeah, don't fake on my man rite here, this joint got some serious spins in my cubicle moe..
Some I missed: Nando, G*Two, Ra, AB, Hassani Kwess, Lyriciss, DeepSpace ... Tabi too forreal, 09 is the year niggaz!
